If you would like to support  our  Gallery, our exhibitions here in Hamilton, our educational work with younger artists of faith in this country, and our  multi-cultural work  abroad we would love to have you on board as a  special and invaluable contributor.  Here are 10 practical ways to really make a difference in our lives, the lives of young aspiring artists and also in your own life with the appreciation of beautiful art.

1. YOU CAN PRAY FOR US
The artists of Flagship have a not so common belief that we are all recipients of grace, all recipients of creative imagination and gifting from Christ, whom we regard to be alive and well and very active in time and history rather than being some distant, impersonal and forever deceased victim of Roman brutality.  This simple reality neither makes us crazy nor special, but it does give us a partnership with the greatest artistic mind in the universe. This gives us a relationship with someone we can talk to, and who has our back as it were.  His power is unfathomable.  Amazingly, we can talk with Him and so can you. The most effectual thing you can do for us is pray for our growth on James North.

2. BUY SOME  ART
Having said that, the artists of Flagship need people to invest in beautiful images, aesthetic windows that last generation upon generation, when almost everything else around us does not, afflicted with built in obsolescence and the ephemeral nature of fashion.  Artists, to be blunt need to eat, pay bills, support their kin like everyone else, and selling art in this economy is not easy. Selling good art that requires huge amounts of thought and time to craft and present and which is therefore more expensive is therefore a real challenge.  Artists rely on persons to make smart decisions about what is really of value, and what really moves you to create living spaces inhabited by images that challenge your imagination to really see. Without patrons, artists slowly die and so does our community on many vital levels. We need you to buy art for yourself,  for your friends,  for your business, for your church. That one decision will touch many more people than you could imagine.

3. RENT SOME ART
We are developing a way, like most public galleries, for you to lease works of art in your living and work spaces.  Shorter term commitments,  lower cost and time to think about it all…. maybe lease to own?  What a concept.  We hope to have this available by the new year.

4. CONSIDER AFFILIATE MEMBERSHIP
We have many supporters who have cheered on this venture but who are not artists. We are hoping that churches, businesses and individuals who believe in what we are doing will join with us in this very concrete way, to help us succeed. The Affiliate Membership will be extended to those patrons who are prepared to commit to regular monthly contributions by post dated cheques of either $10.00,  $50.00 or $100.00 per month for the remainder of our exhibition cycle, which is from now to December 2014.  Cheques are made payable to The Kingsbridge Arts Round Table (KART) and are receiptable for tax purposes. Affiliate Members will enjoy special discounts on admission to our unique gallery events, art classes and art rentals. They will receive appropriate commemoration, private mystery receptions with benefits, T’s shortbread recipe and our undying gratitude in the cold winter months. Affiliate members are invited to participate in all gallery issue discussions series, and of course all openings for our exhibitions. For more information please contact Heidi Brannan (519 650  9817), or James Tughan (905 582 8197) or (905 648 2131 ext. 4497) or call the gallery at 905 577 8585.

5. SEND YOUR KIDS TO OUR CLASSES
Not many people know yet that the core activity of the gallery is actually the educational work of the Semaphore Fellowship, our parent organization. We run great art programs for children (Firefleyes) and adolescents (Headwaters) and every time you support these classes you are also investing in younger artist educators who are starting out in the education workplace. You are more importantly helping cultivate the next generation of young artists. In this way you help young artists to support themselves, and a portion of their fees go the support of the gallery maintenance.

6. BRING YOUR CHURCH OR BUSINESS GROUP TO OUR GALLERY
So come on down for a visit as a group.  Come down for an opening or special meeting/viewing and discussion.

7. COME FOR THE ART CRAWL
The Art Crawl is a great way to see a vast array of art practices, in galleries, studios and eateries. You can talk with artists, ask questions and see firsthand what is really happening in our culture. Make sure you rest your bones at Flagship and talk with us about what you’ve seen and pondered.  (Second Friday night of every month of the year).  We are considering offering tours of the Crawl, where your group could walk the Crawl with one of our senior artists and then have a discussion in our conference room about what you’ve seen down here.

8. COME FOR TRUE CITY
Every winter ( Mid-February, 2014 ) the True City Conference at Philpot Tabernacle, gathers together persons of faith to address serious concerns for creative renewal of Hamilton’s inner city.  Flagship will be part of this, this next year with a participating exhibition related to the theme of A Tale of Two Kingdoms. This will speak to the issue of the creative release of imaginative compassion rather than control oriented empire building in addressing social reform.

9. OR LET US COME TO YOU
We offer important interactive and ground-breaking courses for adults, and church leaders as a support to the faith community in general, and the value of art and artists in your communities in particular. We can help church leadership and artists work together for the good of the whole congregation, learn planning skills that benefit everyone, not just the artists. We can help worship teams incorporate multiple art forms and be more creative in their support of pastoral leadership. (see EDUCATION/ART COURSES on the site for more details) When you fund these classes, you also financially support our senior artist/educators and a percentage also goes to the maintenance of  the gallery. In the spring of 2014 we will be hosting our first annual conference on Creative Community.  (more later on this) We are also considering developing a travelling exhibition that we can bring to you as a springboard for discussion and inspiration.

10. WORD OF MOUTH
There is nothing better than to speak well of artists of faith working down here who are representing you with our best attempt at artistic excellence.
